25 Proxy Lists Worth A Submit in 2012

leave a comment

It can be a tough finding fresh traffic as a webmaster and it’s important to ensure a few proxy list links are included in your website. Over time they should help by sending visitors and can help enhance search engine rankings. Picking the right reciprocal links to add is extremely important – low quality lists, full of junk sites can damage your sites’ reputation. I usually create links to five different proxy lists on new proxy sites I develop, any more and you risk looking like spam.

So, down to the proxy lists themselves. You may need to register once at each site in order to add links. Most require a reciprocal link and some are even automatic approval.

Please do not abuse the service that the proxy list owners extend to you. Most lists are well kept, which takes a lot of time and manual maintenance. If you flood the proxy list with junk then it brings down the overall quality for everyone. Make sure your link backs are visible and not hidden – other people are putting hard work in to send you free traffic, it’s the least you can do.

Are Pop Ups on Proxy Sites Worthwhile?

leave a comment

It is important for proxy site webmasters to find new sources of revenue and ways to best optimize all their available ad space. I place pop ups on the browser page alongside a static image banner which advertises a privacy software affiliate program. It is beneficial to both parties (owner and end user) if extra revenue is reinvested in growing a larger web proxy network. I am here to  cover this topic through several different perspectives.

To clarify my own set up, I generally build a unique content home page for each proxy site, which is linked to a terms of service page. I use contextual adverts from the most popular advertising network on my proxy website homepages. This makes up the majority of my proxy site network earnings. However, the index page is only accessed a few times by each user and most of their time on your service is spent on the proxy “browser” page.

Pop ups have in the past had a rather notorious stigma because of their sometimes annoying nature. In the extremes, I have seem epileptic fit inducing, flashing monstrosities and the endless javascript pop up boxes. It is inevitable that sometimes ads like these will be approved, however you need to monitor popup contents regularly to check they are acceptable. They can be very frustrating to your proxy users so you must keep interruptions to a minimum. If the proxy browsing service you are providing does not work or is slow loading, it would be the death knell to add popups to your site.

My pop up advertiser of choice has always been the Adversal network. This is mostly explained by the fact they have always paid on time and consistent with the pricing rates. They have maintained a solid amount of reasonable quality advertisements. I have tested various proxy advertisers over the past five years which usually ends with a bad outcome on my side. My relationship with the Adversal advertising network stretches back a few years and I’ve never had a single problem with them. I have tried 2 other pop up advertisers who told me that proxy sites are totally banned.

Admittedly, I have in the past year stuck with long time advertisers and not experimented in many new revenue streams. I have been through about a dozen ad networks who provided varying formats. Some got greedy and just stopped paying, while others disappeared without trace. They got removed from my pages shortly after. That’s why Adversal has been such a refreshing change and helped pay a few domain renewals each month. The nice thing is they offer pop unders which are less intrusive to visitors. I recommend their lowest setting of one pop under for each visitor every 30 minutes. Payments are made net-35 on the 5th of each month via Paypal or check.

If you are interested in joining Adversal, you will need to conform to their publisher rules. These are to ensure that advertisers are receiving the best quality traffic and that all publishers get paid a fair amount. It’s no good if someone comes along and drops in a load of low paying visitors which swamp network resources for everyone. You will be expected to have a reasonable level of webmaster technical competence when applying to Adversal.

Adversal require you to have a high percentage of visitors from the USA – like, 50%. That should be followed by other top visitor percentages from countries like the UK, Canada, Germany, Italy, Australia, etc. You may be required to block certain segments of abusive IPs, software like MaxMind geo IP can help with this. Traffic from countries like China, Indonesia, Iran and Saudi Arabia is not worthwhile for advertisers to buy at present.

How Does a Proxy Work

leave a comment

A proxy is basically a web page that gives users the ability to browse Web sites that were blocked or not allowed to view. Using a proxy to bypass the block, users can now view all the content they want. Using a proxy, it allows the user to detect invisible so clear proof that the user visited a site.

How does the proxy really works?

Essentially, the proxy allows users the same way to browse the Internet like any other browser. A proxy site allows users to enter a specific web address and accessed in the browser window. Using a proxy of the window is then encoded as part of the address of the proxy site and not the real site web surfer is visiting. All information is cached in the temporary folder is that of the proxy, not the users. This means that the user is not traced at all and the information is hidden.

Why use a proxy?

People use a proxy for a number of reasons. The first is to bypass blocked sites to access the information within. Sometimes, the content may not be safe for work or for youth that is why a site is normally blocked. Many employers use this means to prevent their employees to relax and let them focus on their work instead. Employers apply this by typing specific words that can allow the user to access or be blocked at work. For example, employers may opt social networking sites or online dating sites to be seen by typing words that are related. Any user who accesses these sites with words and words are unable to view them. The more keywords are, the more the user has limited or no access whatsoever. Blocked sites can be whatever the employer deems inappropriate at work.

http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l1lauqtRS51qb1g9l.jpgSome users have found that using a proxy website they can access these banned sites easily. Using a web proxy is like opening another page in the browser. Using a web proxy, users do not need any technical knowledge. All they have to do is go to the correct URL. Web proxy function does not need to be installed and it prevents users to really tweak the PC they use. In short, less hassle, less problems.

Ultimately, users have the final word on how they use this ability to surf invisible. Sometimes you have to exercise restraint when the temptation to free ride becomes too strong to resist.
